Honda Canada Confirm CBR1000RR SP for Champ Christie

2014 MOPAR CSBK Pro National overall Champion Jodi Christie of Keene, ON will defend his crown aboard Honda’s Limited Edition 2015 CBR1000RR-SP model.  Launched in 2014, the CBR1000RR-SP builds on the existing CBR “Thou” platform with the addition of performance-oriented updates to front and rear suspension, triple clamps, brakes and engine internals. Both the 2014 and 2015 model year SP versions will be eligible for competition in Pro and Amateur action on the MOPAR CSBK National tour.

Last year, Christie took his first ever career overall National number one plate aboard the existing CBR1000RR, backed by Honda Canada, Accelerated Technologies, Elka Suspension, Shoei and Joe Rocket.

Representatives of Honda Canada and CSBK National organizing group Professional Motorsports Productions met in Toronto on Wednesday, January 14 and agreed on updates to the homologation agreement that would allow for Christie to compete aboard the SP.

Among the key components utilized for the exotic Honda SP include Ohlins suspension front and rear, Brembo four-piston Mono Block callipers, revised triple clamps, lightweight wheels as well as factory-matched piston and connecting rods.

Christie, 21 years-of-age, is expected to battle for the Canadian National Superbike title against arch-rival Jordan Szoke of Brantford, ON.  Szoke, who just turned 36, is a nine time overall Canadian Superbike Champ, and is expected to compete aboard BMW’s brand new S1000RR sports machine.
