The Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship is pleased to confirm that GP Bikes Pro Superbike competitor #2 Sam Guerin has been discharged from hospital and is recovering following a race two crash during the August 8-10 weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Guerin crashed in a solo incident in turn eight on the final lap of Sunday’s title-deciding Pro Superbike race while chasing Ben Young and Jordan Szoke for the lead.
Following trackside assistance from on-site medical staff, Guerin was transported to local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
Sam has since confirmed his injuries via a social media post to his Facebook account, revealing a “fractured knee” and “broken neck,” though he is thankfully expected to make a full recovery.
“Following my fall in the second race, I have a fractured knee and a broken neck. Luckily the spinal cord is not affected. Thank you to everyone who has sent me words of encouragement and checked on me,” Guerin said in the post.
The EFC Group BMW star entered Sunday’s season finale just six points shy of a first career Superbike championship, ending the year fourth in the overall standings. Guerin enjoyed a breakout season in 2025, winning four times (including race one at CTMP) and helping BMW to their fourth consecutive Constructors Championship.
Series staff would like to wish Sam a full and speedy recovery from his injuries.
