CSBK Series News and Press Releases

The Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame will stage their 17th annual induction event at the Aria Convention Centre in Surrey, BC on Saturday, February 15.

Among the outstanding Canadians who will join the Hall in mid-February is road racer Steve Dick, who was a front runner during the very early days of Superbike racing in Canada, as well as the sports bike hay days of the late 1980's.

To celebrate Dick’s career achievements, CSBK will provide a selection of images of Dick’s competition highlights each day this week leading up to Dick’s big day, February 15.  Tickets to the revised format event, that features interviews with various racing celebrities, are still available via This email address is being protected from spambots. The Heat race start at Edmonton International on Saturday, June 7 for the Alberta Cycle sponsored, ARC organized (Alberta Roadracing Club) organized opening 1980 National event around the seven turn, short version of the course. Launching onto the drag strip front straight are the #8 Forest Lawn Suzuki of Rudi Kofman, #123 Cycle Engineering Kawasaki of Rueben McMurer, #31 Wolf Exhaust Honda of Steve Dick, #581 Nican Kawasaki of George Morin and #7 Castrol Kawasaki of “Crazy Frank” Mrazek. The event recognized as the first-ever Canadian Superbike National took place at the long-gone Edmonton International Speedway at the start of June in 1980. Top eastern racers George Morin, Rueben McMurter and Frank Mrazek were expected to feature in the Superbike category, newly eligible for “number one plate” status. However local youngster Steve Dick earned an impressive second on the fearsome Honda CBX1000 six cylinder, a machine not known for road race prowess. This produced one of the signature images of the early days of CSBK at Green Bank’s turn four, partially due to the clear visor on Dick’s helmet! [Photo: Colin Fraser]
With support from Kawasaki, Dick established his career path of regional racing in the west and National racing where possible in the early 1980s.
