Hot, hot, heat in Nova Scotia as Trevor Daley’s Suzuki squad has an eventful— and successful—weekend

Atlantic Motorsport Park in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, lived up to its reputation as “the rollercoaster” this past weekend when it hosted a pair of CSBK pro superbike races.

After qualifying Friday on the front row, with his best-ever AMP qualifying times, Trevor and his GSX-R had an unfortunate, high-speed, 4th gear parting of the ways in Saturday morning’s practice. With the bike a little worse for wear—not to mention the rider—Trevor’s pit crew exploded into action.

With the bike back together for Saturday afternoon’s race 1, Trevor faced another challenge— the weather. With temperatures reaching 35 degrees, the pastoral Nova Scotia landscape did its best to emulate mid-summer Louisiana heat. But Trevor—as Trevor does—gutted it out to a 2nd place finish, his best result yet this season.

Waking Sunday to a body that felt like it had been sent though a meat grinder before being spun dry in a washing machine, Trevor faced a racetrack that, due to intermittent showers, became slicker than a fish’s belly. But Trevor gritted his teeth and brought the weekend to a close with another podium, this time in 3rd.

Trevor solidified his 3rd in the overall standings and nudged a little closer to Suzuki-mounted second-place rider Alex Dumas, who, along with Trevor, gained valuable points for Suzuki in the manufacturers’ championship tally.

The trip down east is always a welcome summer respite for Ontario and Quebec-based riders, and this year was no different. Meeting friends new and old at Pro Cycle’s Thursday night bike night kicked the weekend off in style and having many of these fans come out for the weekend’s races was doubly great.
