What a fantastic weekend, I couldn’t have asked for better races both days of the Mopar CSBK double header at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
It started out with some much-needed Thursday practice aboard the Yamaha R1 as I knew I already had the R6’s dialled in. Friday qualifying was a nail bitter right to the end. I picked up a great draft up the back straight and was able to grab the Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike pole at a time of 1:24:400. My fastest time around Mosport on a 600. I slapped a fresh set of Dunlop slicks on the R1 and in the last minute or so I was able to move up to 10th - but only for a few seconds as I was knocked back to 11th but still made it into Dalton Times Insurance SuperPole qualifying. I got to use a Dunlop Qualifying tire and oh my god do they ever stick. That was the best 3 laps of Mosport ever and I qualified at a 1:22:8.
Saturday race day came and the weather was warm but windy and in a close battle with Tommy (Casas) and Will (Hornblower) in Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike, I was able to pull out a 1 second lead through some lappers and took the win. On to Mopar Pro Superbike and I was able to battle all race long with (Sebastien) Tremblay and came home to a 10th place finish.
Sunday race day was warmer and no wind and I was stoked. After getting my first win of the season on Saturday I wanted another win and knew my Goderich Toyota R6 was a rocket up the back straight. I again had a great battle with Tommy and early runner Jacob Shaw O-Leary in Pro Sport Bike. Again, great back straight speed I had the dominant bike and was able to hold off second place to take my second win of the season. In Pro Superbike, I had another great battle with some fast riders and I was able to hold onto 11th place. Great finishes since it was the first weekend I rode the Superbike this season.
The support this season was fantastic. I can’t thank everyone enough for helping us put together some fast bikes, great tires, good gear and a great series
Thanks Shoei, Dunlop, Goderich Toyota, Vortex, DP Brakes, Maclyn Dust Control, Bluestreak Racing, Bickle Racing, DynoJet, Liqui Moly, and CSBK.
