Round 3 of the MOPAR CSBK Canadian Superbike Championship brought us to Autodrome St-Eustache on the outskirts of Montreal this past weekend.
This was Tim's first time to this track so practice time was vital. "This is a really interesting track. The oval section is pretty challenging, there are some tricky bumps and pavement transitions but then the run down to the bowl and back has some great flow and is really fun. It's a short lap and it's difficult to make up time" said Tim after the Moto Nation trackday on Thursday.
Friday morning was quite wet and not too many riders opted to participate in wet practice. Friday afternoon was dry and we continued to work on bike set up. "We have really good front end feel on corner entry and mid corner, now we're focusing on getting the rear to grip and drive hard out of the corners without spinning too much".
Saturday brought clear skies and dry track for practice and qualifying. "Everyone continued to get faster and we did as well but not quite enough. I'm a little disappointed with P17 in qualifying but it looks worse than it is. Our pace is there to run with the riders up in P12 so I think we're in good shape for tomorrow"
Angry skies on Sunday held off just long enough to complete the feature Pro Superbike race on a dry track. Tim ran his fastest laps of the weekend in the race and had a great battle with Derrick Whyte and Jean-Marc Bilger. "I was really happy to be able to ride with the two of them, I had some really fun exchanges with Bilger early in the race but we settled into a really fast pace and I wasn't able to do much more than hang onto them. In the end we finished P13 and overall I'm pretty satisfied. It was my first time here and this is a really challenging track, all things considered P13 is a good finish."
With 3 of 7 races complete Tim is still holding onto the points lead in the Brooklin Cycle Pro Rookie of the Year race. Next on the schedule is the double-header round at Atlantic Motorsport Park on the weekend of July 15-16. We look forward to seeing all the fantastic fans from out East and can't wait to get back on the bike!
