Yamaha VR46 Master Camp graduates Tomas Casas and Jake LeClair will lead the charge for Yamaha’s bLU cRU in the 2022 Canadian Superbike Championship. Both riders are anxious to return to competition after the past 2 years of COVID-impacted CSBK programs.
Casas, who finished seventh in his 2021 Superbike season, is hungry for redemption after finishing last year with a DNF at Calabogie Motorsports Park. The Peterborough, ON-based rider unfortunately sustained a broken wrist back in April but hopes to line up for the 1st round!
"I'm excited for the return of a full schedule and to be representing Yamaha Canada once again onboard my YZF-R1" said Casas, the defending two-time CSBK Pro Sport Bike Champion. "With now a season and a half under my belt onboard a Superbike, we will continue to learn and fight for race wins!"
While Casas battles it out in Pro Superbike, LeClair will return for his second year in the Pro Sport Bike class on his YZF-R6. The 20-year-old from Blackstock, ON won the first bLU cRU Factory Ride Award presented in road racing in 2018 and finished second in Amateur Sport Bike as a rookie in 2019. Despite the pause in his career momentum during the pandemic, LeClair is ready to suit up.
“I have been training hard this winter for the upcoming 2022 National Series and have gotten out on my R6 a couple times this spring to do some testing. I am looking forward to the first round!” Said the youngster.
Casas and LeClair are the only two Canadians to ever attend the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp in Italy (Casas in 2017 and LeClair in 2019). Both riders had the chance to meet and speak with MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi, learn from his VR46 Riding Academy instructors, train in the gym with MotoGP star Franco Morbidelli and ride the legendary Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Championnat canadien de Superbike (CSBK) 2022 : Casas et LeClair de retour pour mener bLU CRU à la victoire
Tomas Casas et Jake LeClair, participants au Camp des maîtres Yamaha VR46, mèneront la charge pour l’équipe bLu cRU de Yamaha lors du Championnat canadien de Superbike 2022. Les deux pilotes sont impatients de reprendre la compétition après deux ans de Championnat canadien de Superbike impactés par la COVID-19.
Septième de la saison 2021 de Superbike, Casas a soif de rédemption après avoir terminé l'année dernière par un DNF au Calabogie Motorsports Park. Le pilote de Peterborough (ON) a malheureusement subi une fracture du poignet en avril dernier mais espère s'aligner pour le 1er tour!
« J’ai hâte de revenir à un calendrier plein et de représenter Yamaha Canada de nouveau sur ma YZF- R1 » confiait Casas, le double champion en titre du Championnat national canadien de Superbike (CBSBK) en Pro Sport Bike. « Avec maintenant une saison et demie de Superbike à mon actif, on va continuer d’apprendre et de batailler pour accrocher des victoires! »
Pendant que Casas fait ses preuves dans le Championnat Pro Superbike, LeClair reviendra pour sa deuxième saison au Championnat Pro Sport Bike sur sa YZF-R6. Ce pilote de 20 ans, originaire de Blackstock, en Ontario, a remporté le tout premier championnat sur route « As au guidon bLu cRU » en 2018 et a également remporté la deuxième place lors de sa première saison du Championnat Amateur Sport Bike en 2019. Malgré l'interruption causée par la pandémie, LeClair est prêt à renfiler sa tenue.
« Je me suis entraîné dur tout l’hiver pour le championnat national 2022 et j’ai sorti ma R6 deux ou trois fois au printemps pour faire quelques essais. J’ai hâte d’attaquer le premier tour! », nous dit le jeunot.
Casas et LeClair sont les deux seuls Canadiens à avoir participé au Camp des maîtres Yamaha VR46 en Italie (Casas en 2017 et LeClair en 2019). Les deux pilotes ont eu l'occasion de rencontrer Valentino Rossi, légende du MotoGP, d’apprendre auprès des instructeurs experts de l’académie de pilotage VR46, de s'entraîner avec Franco Morbidelli, star du MotoGP, et de rouler sur le légendaire circuit Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
La saison 2022 du Championnat canadien de Superbike démarrera le 10 juin prochain, au Grand Bend Motorplex.
