Rounds 3 & 4 Report: Jordan Szoke

Szoke Makes it a Dozen at Atlantic Motorsport Park

Current Mopar Canadian Superbike Champion Jordan Szoke has remained undefeated in Canadian Superbike action since his return from injury in 2014. In 2015 he dominated the field by winning all seven races on the roster claiming the Canada Cup with a perfect season. He has defended his championship title in 2016 by chalking up all five pole positions and all five race wins thus far.

Earning them has not been easy the champ says. “These guys are hungry for a win to prove themselves, the season’s not over yet. We’ll remain focused on what we need to do. And I want to win.”

Szoke started from pole position after earning the Dalton Timmis Insurance Top Qualifier Award on Fridays Superpole session. Topping the charts with a one minute, 7.759 seconds around the 2.56km (1.6 mile) track located north of Halifax Nova Scotia.

“We’ve had a fantastic bike all year and I felt really comfortable today,” said Szoke, “It’s nice to have ‘Corndog’ [Jon Cornwell] back helping with our suspension work. We missed him at St-Eustache.”

Szoke claimed the holeshot during Saturdays Race #1 of the weekend and led all 22 laps around the circuit finishing 7.437 seconds ahead of the field completing the race distance in 25 minutes, 18.997 seconds setting the fastest lap during lap three.

“I don’t normally get the holeshot but I got a great launch and I thought, ‘Right on, I’ll take it,’” said Szoke, “Passing is so hard here, and you don’t get a break over 22 laps. It’s a tough, tough physically demanding track. I’m sure it’ll be a little tougher tomorrow,” Szoke admitted. “These guys [Riedmann and Young] will do their homework and we have to do this all over again.”

Szoke took the lead during Race #2 of the weekend on lap 19 of 22 under dramatic conditions. In a race thwarted by sprinkles of rain, slick and treacherous conditions existed for the Superbike field. Szoke claimed the victory with his fifth win of the season completing the race in 25 minutes, 19.407 seconds.

Szoke has remained undefeated in Mopar Canadian Superbike action for 12 straight races.
