Team News: Trevor Daley previews CSBK round one

Trevor Daley and Canadian Superbike kick off the season this coming weekend—and you can be part of the racing action

Summer has arrived and—finally—so have the sights and sounds of professional motorcycle racing. This coming weekend, July 10th and 11th, 2021, at Calabogie Motorsports Park southwest of Ottawa, the 2021 Canadian Superbike Series (CSBK) presents its opening round. Calabogie, a circuit beloved by motorcycle racers for its sinuous layout and natural beauty, is the perfect venue to witness Trevor Daley debut his new-for-’21 Suzuki Canada-powered GSX-R1000R.

If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s not to take anything for granted, and Trevor is thrilled that fans can finally be a part of racing again. “It’s just not the same without them,” says Trevor, referring to last year’s truncated season that took place in front of empty grandstands. But even with a shortened season the work for a superbike frontrunner continues apace.

Gruelling 100-km-plus days in the saddle of his road bicycle have given Trevor the fitness to withstand the rigours of double-feature Sundays, when just a few hours separate race one from race two. And, of course, what’s a challenge for racers is a boon for fans, as twice the racing promises twice the thrills.

At last week’s pre-season test, Trevor was quick right off the truck, and final tweaks at this Friday’s Pro 6 Cycle track day will help Trevor further refine his machine’s setup. Calabogie, with its elevation changes and decreasing radius corners, is a natural fit for Trevor, who loves nothing better than old-school rear-wheel steering his mighty GSX-R.

“I’m indebted to my race program supporters and the incredible people who’ve stepped up to help me be better prepared for 2021 than any season to date,” says Trevor, who encourages those in attendance at the race to come by his pit to say hello and to pick up a full-sized signed poster courtesy Suzuki Canada and Liqui-Moly.

And, finally, a note that spectator tickets to the weekend’s events won’t be sold at the gate. To meet Trevor and cheer him on, please visit Calabogie Motorsports Park’s website (calabogiemotorsports.com) where you’ll find a link to purchase tickets online. See you at the races!
