Dumas quicker to begin day two, Szoke still fastest overall at Jennings test

The gap atop the Bridgestone Winter Test leaderboard shrunk on Wednesday morning, as Alex Dumas inched closer to his rivals amidst very cold conditions at the Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship event from JenningsGP.

Dumas sat third-fastest through day one on Tuesday aboard his Purple Skull/Liqui Moly Suzuki, but a comfortable 0.396 seconds off Jordan Szoke at the top with rival Ben Young sitting narrowly behind in second.

That gap closed further in the final morning session on Wednesday, as Dumas braved the 49F (9C) weather to put in a time of 1:17.996 – now only a quarter-second off the LDS Consultants Kawasaki of Szoke in the combined times.

Young was unable to counter with a meaningful time to begin day two, while Szoke stayed parked in anticipation of warmer temperatures this afternoon. That left an opening for breakout star Pierre Simard to go second-fastest, with Sam Guerin completing the top three heading into the last three sessions of the test.
