For the second consecutive year West City Powersports Honda of Belleville, ON, will be the official sponsor for the qualifying for the Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike class at round one of the 2018 Mopar CSBK Championship series at Shannonville Motorsport Park, ON, May 26.
West City Powersports are located twenty minutes away from the famed motorcycle road racing venue originally known as Nelson International Raceway when the circuit opened in 1976.
The top three competitors from the Saturday (May 26th) Liqui Moly timed qualifying session will be awarded ‘Big Cheque’ payouts of $250.00 for first, $150.00 for second and $100.00 for third. The awards will be presented immediately following qualifying on the Shannonville Motorsport Park podium by West City Powersports Honda manager Chad Musclow.
“We’re really happy to be involved with the National Championship races again this year,” Musclow stated. “Last year we were pleasantly surprised at the amount of interest and enthusiasm that was generated at the shop as a result of our involvement, so this year we jumped at the chance of doing it again. The Mopar CSBK races at Shannonville are the biggest motorsport event in Eastern Ontario and we’re very proud to be a part of it again this year.”
At the 2017 opening edition of the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship Series at S.M.P., in the Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike Qualifying it was Kristopher Garvie of Caledon, ON, aboard a Kawasaki ZX-6R Ninja taking the West City Powersports Honda top payout.
Rookie Pro Chris Brent of Ottawa, ON, qualified second on a Honda CBR600RR and eventual 2017 Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike Champion Tomas Casas of Peterborough, ON, netted third in the early afternoon “Q” session with a Parts Canada-backed Yamaha YZF-R6.
During 2017, Yamaha’s Mitch Card of Ripley, ON, Honda’s Frank Trombino from Etobicoke, ON, and Casas all scored Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike race wins. Casas took the crown with Card second overall in the final, year-end Championship Points Standings. Ste-Marthe, QC. based veteran Louie Raffa netted third overall aboard a Honda, while the top Rookie Pro was east coast ace Jacob Shaw-O'Leary from Falmouth, NS, with his fourth overall Pro Cycle-supported Honda.
West City Powersports Honda have been serving the Quinte area since 2012 and are strong supporters of motorsports and community events in the Belleville area.
Each round of the Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike National Championship class in the Mopar CSBK National Championship is available to watch on-line, with flag-to-flag coverage presented by Dalton Timmis Insurance the day after each competition. The Feature Pro Superbike class is broadcast, typically with a one-week delay, with Dalton Timmis Insurance presents Mopar CSBK on TSN.
